The village has been such a cool experience, sharing a suite with beach volleyball players and rowers and following their successes since they are competing before me. The team USA staff has also been incredible and has made preparations flow seamlessly.  Also constantly being surrounded by the world’s best as they also prepare is awe inspiring.

Naturally, I spend most my day at the HPC since pentathlon training takes a lot of time and it’s been an amazing home away from the village. Team USA has gone above and beyond to make sure our training , food, and recovery is top notch leading up to competition.

I have managed to watch my team mates fence in the women’s epee team event which was the most emotional part of this experience so far, being able to watch girls who I’ve been training with for a decade, some of who were retiring was unforgettable.  Was also able to make it to the la defense arena to watch swimming where a highlight was Katie ledeky winning gold in the 1,500m.

I was able to meet some track athletes who took an interest in shooting one day at practice, along with Sydney McLaughlin and her coach. and also more of the fencing team who I had not previously known. Also Sunny Cho who has helped teach me more about the sport of breakdancing!

How are you feeling as you head into the last week of training before pentathlon officially starts on August 8th?

I’m feeling so far relaxed and ready and slowing feeling the nerve start to creep in. This is a historic event for modern pentathlon and I’m just feeling so grateful and excited that I get to be a part of it.
