Board of Directors Biographies#

  • Tom Shepard | Chair of Board

    Tom Shepard is widely credited for being one of the most authoritative sponsor and partnership marketing executives of his time.  Through his work with major properties, global travel and entertainment companies, as well as prominent retailers, he is widely regarded for innovative and profitable marketing and partnership strategies.  He is also noted for his adept handling of complex negotiations.  He is the CMO and partner of 21 Marketing.

  • Michelle DeMott | Independent Director

    With over 30 years of experience in sports, entertainment, and event marketing, DeMott is a seasoned strategist specializing in brand partnerships, marketing activations, and business growth. Currently, DeMott is a sports marketing strategist at Apple, managing key relationships with Major League Soccer at the league, club and athlete level.

    DeMott served as Executive Vice President of Brand & Community at Major League Soccer club, LAFC, overseeing marketing initiatives, brand activations, and collaboration with revenue generating teams. Prior to that, she directed global partnerships and field marketing at performance nutrition leader, CLIF Bar. Earlier in her career, DeMott spent nearly two decades leading marketing, communications and community relations for one of Southern California’s largest convention, sports, and entertainment venues, which was also home to the 2017 USA Pentathlon World Cup.

    Passionate about health and fitness, DeMott has competed in numerous triathlon, running, swimming, and cycling events. She is also a former age-group and masters swimming coach, demonstrating her commitment to developing athletes at all levels.

    DeMott received her Master of Science in Leadership Management and Bachelor of Science in Business degree with an emphasis in marketing from the University of La Verne.

  • Rob Stull | UIPM Representative

    Rob Stull has the rare distinction of being a two-sport Olympian, in Modern Pentathlon and Fencing, who competed in four USA teams across three Olympic Games. After retiring as an athlete he served as an Executive Board Member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and as Vice Chairman of the USOPC Athletes Commission. From 2016-2024, Rob sat on the UIPM Executive Board as President of the NORCECA Confederation, while also playing the role of Managing Director and CEO of USA Pentathlon Multisport. A recipient of numerous honours, awards and titles, Rob was elected to serve as the 7th President of UIPM during the 73rd UIPM Congress in November 2024. 

  • Ian Adamson | Multisport Representative, At-Large Director

    Ian Adamson is a world renowned endurance athlete, event director, producer, and published author. He has three decades working in the medical, sports and outdoor product industries. Ian is president of World Obstacle, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO) and works as a legal forensic expert for Robson Forensic.

  • Willie Wilson | Club Representative, At-Large Director

    Mr. Willie Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience overseeing the Army World Class Athlete Program. Mr. Wilson serves as the Army’s liaison to the United States Olympic/Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and its governing bodies for each of the Olympic/Paralympic Sports that Soldiers compete in to ensure the Army and its Soldier-athletes are represented at both the national and international levels.

  • Brendan Anderson | Athlete's Commission

    Anderson has a long history with USA Pentathlon being a part of the national team for over a decade. Raised in Colorado, he learned about the sport through the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Within a few years, he was a Youth and Junior World Championship finalist, multiple-time Youth and Junior National Champion, and competed at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Brendan was also active on the senior circuit where he went on to final at multiple World Cups and World Championships and become a two-time national champion. He was also a two-time PanAmerican Games team member (2019 and 2023), where he earned two silver and one bronze medal with his teammates at these events.

    Brendan also competed collegiately for Boston College's Division I Fencing team before returning to the University of Colorado Boulder to earn his Bachelors degree and continue his pentathlon training. He proudly represents the New York Athletic Club and is pursuing a professional degree outside of sport. Recently elected as the Athlete Commission Representative, he looks forward to serving the sport and advocating for athletes as Modern Pentathlon enters a new era!

  • Dennis Bowsher | Athlete Representative

    Dennis Bowsher is an accomplished U.S. Army professional who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational planning skills on both national and international stages. He competed at the 2012 Olympic Games and three Pan Am Games, and he also coached at three different Olympic Games and two Pan Am Games. These experiences underscore his commitment to excellence in athletic performance and his ability to drive strategic decision-making. His career highlights reflect a record of delivering results.

    As a US Army Pentathlon Coach in Colorado Springs from 2018-2024, Dennis Bowsher maintained open communication with athletes and key stakeholders. He represented his team at high-level organizational meetings and played a pivotal role in athlete selection for major events. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trident University and achieved the UIPM Level 3 Coaches Certification. His career is defined by a steadfast commitment to athlete advocacy and strategic collaboration.
