USA PENTATHLON ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NATIONAL SPORT PERFORMANCE COORDINATOR

USA Pentathlon is seeking applicants with strong and respected coaching and teaching skills and a vision to take USA Pentathlon to #1 in the World. The successful candidate will oversee elite level programs from talent identification to Olympic and World Championship success and will be responsible for the development of a seamless athlete pipeline in cooperation with the clubs and coaches throughout the United States.

Applicants should have experience working with elite level athletes and coaches, outstanding administrative abilities, be an excellent coach, educator and spokesperson with great interpersonal and communication skills.  This individual will report directly to the CEO of USA Pentathlon and must be effective working with a leadership team to develop and execute long and short term plans.  Experience working with the U.S. Olympic Committee and/or multisport organizations is preferred and a background within Pentathlon is beneficial. Applicants must be committed to the development of a training and competition environment for Pentathletes in the United States that establishes the highest level of performance, promotes team work, transparency and establishes a solid foundation and tradition of excellence for the future.

The National Sport Performance Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Oversight, training and management of the Resident Athletes
  • Development and implementation of annual plans for the athletes
  • Oversight and management of sport science, sports medicine and coaching education programs
  • Oversight, use and evaluation of training center operations
  • International team selection and preparation
  • Strategic planning for international competition
  • International competitive performance
  • Input and direction for the continuing development of athletes and coaches
  • Talent identification and development (including Resident Athletes)
  • Identification of, interaction, and communication with coaches of developmental and elite athletes
  • Provide coaching of elite athletes at national and international competitions
  • Be present when RAs are training

The National Sport Performance Coordinator will work with the CEO of USA Pentathlon to achieve continuous improvement of USA Pentathlon's results in world level competition, at the senior, junior, and youth levels of participation.  USA Pentathlon is a not-for-profit organization recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee as the sport's national governing body.  Headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, USA Pentathlon offers a variety of programs for all ages and skill levels. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience working with Olympic level athletes and coaches, multi-sport experience preferred.
  • Specific academics in coaching related areas, MA or PhD level desired.
  • Administrative experience, including preparation and effective management of budgets, and short and long range training plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally

Pay Range

To be negotiated, plus an excellent benefits package
