Czech athlete sets modern pentathlon shooting mark

BEIJING (AP) David Svoboda of the Czech Republic has set an Olympic modern pentathlon record for shooting points.
Svoboda earned 191 of a possible 200 points Thursday, falling three short of the world record. He took the early lead in the modern pentathlon, which includes shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian and running.
Svoboda's 191 shooting points converts to 1,228 modern pentathlon points. Qian Zhenhua of China was in second place with 1,204.
